Francesco Friedrich of Germany completed a winning double at the French resort of La Plagne today as he took gold in the four-man bobsleigh at the third International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup of the season.

Friedrich, the defending champion, guided his team to a combined time of 1min 55.85sec to finish ahead of the team steered by his compatriot and rival Johannes Lochner, which finished 0.21 seconds slower.

His victory came a day after a winning run in the two-man bobsleigh, where he is also defending champion.

Latvia's Oskars Kibermanis, second to Friedrich yesterday, guided his team to third place today, 0.33 seconds off the lead.

Fourth place - 0.69 seconds off the lead - went to another German crew piloted by Nico Walther, with Canada’s Justin Kripps, who shared Pyeongchang 2018 gold with Friedrich in the two-man bob, finishing fourth, 0.74 seconds behind.

As well as sharing two-man gold, Friedrich also won four-man gold at Pyeongchang 2018.

He now leads the World Cup four-man overall standings with 1,052 points, with Lochner second on 1,029 and Kripps third on 994.

The next IBSF World Cup for bobsleigh racing is due to place at Innsbruck next Saturday and Sunday (January 18 and 19).
