Hosts Tunisia booked a place in the semi-final of the African Men's Handball Championship after defeating Morocco.

The 16 competing teams had all taken part in a three-day preliminary round, with the top eight teams progressing into two seperate groups in the main round.

From here, the best two teams will reach the semi-finals, while the bottom two teams are set to go into fifth to eighth place semi-finals.

Points and goals gained in the preliminary group against teams that advanced were taken over in the main round.

Tunisia overcame Morocco 31-24 at Salle Omnisport de Radès to top Group Two with four points, while Algeria edged past Cape Verde 25-23 to do the same.

It was enough to see both teams into the semi-final, even though the group round-robin competition is due to continue on Wednesday (January 22).

There was another close result in Group Two, with Congo getting past Cameroon 25-24.
