The International Esports Federation (IESF) will announce the games for the 2020 World Championships on March 1, the governing body has said.

They will also reveal the dates for the event, taking place in Eilat in Israel, and the official logo of the tournament.

It will be the 12th edition of the IESF World Championships, which is the only esports event to feature national sides.

Around 60 countries are expected to compete in Eilat, which would make it the largest Championship ever held.

Esports is becoming an increasingly regular topic in sporting circles, with the potential for Olympic inclusion one day a subject for debate.

Technology giant Intel, a member of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) top-tier sponsorship programme, hosted an esports tournament before the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics and another event will be held before Tokyo 2020.

There are talks for esports to appear at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago while they were showcased at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.

International Cycling Union President David Lappartient is the head of an IOC liasion group which is looking into esports.

But there are problems with governance as a rival body to the IESF, the Global Esports Foundation, also exists, and not every country has a national federation.

Last year's IESF World Championship were held in Seoul, where the games were Dota 2, Tekken 7 and eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020.

Japan were declared as the overall winners.
