Milton will host the final event of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Track World Cup season, as the countdown to the World Championships and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games builds.

The three-day competition will take place at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Canada, built for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

Men's and women's team pursuit will be the focus of competition tomorrow, as the sixth World Cup of the season begins.

New Zealand are the only team to have triumphed in the women's team pursuit twice this season and will hope for a third success, a feat matched by Denmark in the men's event.

Team sprint events will also take place on the opening day, with The Netherlands' men's squad eyeing a fourth victory of the season as they build towards Tokyo 2020.

The second day of competition will see the women's sprint and madison titles claimed, while the men's keirin and omnium crowns will also be decided.

Australia's Annette Edmondson and Georgia Baker have been the dominant force in the women's madison, with three wins in five events, but the duo will not start in Milton.

France's Benjamin Thomas will eye a second men's omnium title of the campaign, having triumphed in Glasgow.

The World Cup season concludes on Sunday (January 26) with the men's madison and sprint competitions.

Jennifer Valente will be among the favourites for the women's omnium title, which will also be on offer on the final day.

The American cyclist has won the event at two World Cups this season and could benefit from the absence of Dutch rival Kirsten Wild.

Belgium’s Nicky Degrendele, France’s Mathilde Gros and Canada’s Kelsey Mitchell are likely to battle for the women’s keirin, the fourth and final title on offer on Sunday.

The overall World Cup champions will be crowned at the conclusion of the event.

Poland currently lead the standings with 19,743.5 points, with Russia their closest challengers on 18,397.5.
