Canada overwhelmed St Kitts and Nevis in their first game of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship final tournament in the United States.

The Canadian side came up against tournament debutantes St Kitts and Nevis at H-E-B Park in Edinburg in Texas, crushing their opponents 11-0. 

Adriana Leon scored four times, with Ashley Lawrence grabbing two. 

Canadian captain Christine Sinclair, seeking to play at her fourth Olympic Games, successfully converted a penalty, while Jayde Riviere, Jessie Fleming and Jordyn Pamela Huitema all got on the scoresheet. 

Sinclair became the highest-scoring footballer in both men and women's international football with her goal, surpassing American Abby Wambach on 184 goals. 

The 36-year-old has now scored 185 goals in 290 appearances for Canada. 

Mexico edged past Jamaica 1-0 in the remaining Group B game, with Renae Cuéllar getting the only goal of the match. 

There will be a break in play tomorrow before Group A gets back under way on Friday (January 31). 

Haiti take on Costa Rica at BBVA Stadium in Houston, followed by the US's clash with Panama.
