Kevin Drury of Canada clinched his fourth victory of the season to strengthen his lead at the top of the overall International Ski Federation Ski Cross World Cup standings in Megève in France.

The World Championships bronze medallist produced a superb performance in the big final, taking control from the start on his way to recording a comfortable win.

Drury crossed the line ahead of Frenchman Bastien Midol, while Tim Hronek of Germany finished third.

The Canadian racer now has 688 points, 234 clear of nearest challenger Ryan Regez of Switzerland.

"I knew I had the speed, I was confident with that and I just knew I had to get through this first turn, where all the contact was happening," Drury said.

"Through all of my heats I was a little cautious in that first turn and it just so happened that I kept having better and better starts and especially with that last start and after the first turn, I knew I could hold the others off and that I could make it."

Canada also enjoyed success in the women's event as Marielle Thompson triumphed in the big final.

Thompson held off the challenge posed by Sweden's Sandra Näslund, the overall Ski Cross World Cup leader, to secure victory.

Alexandra Edebo of Sweden did enough for third in a hotly-contested final.

Näslund remains in pole position in the race for the overall crown and has 810 points, 114 ahead of Switzerland's Fanny Smith in second.
