South Korea crushed Myanmar as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Olympic Qualifying final tournament began in Seogwipo and Sydney. 

The hosts triumphed 7-0 at the Jeju World Cup Stadium following a flurry of goals in the second-half. 

Ji So-yun opened the scoring in the fifth minute, before Lee So-dam doubled the advantage to give South Korea a 2-0 lead going into half-time. 

Ji scored again in the 52nd minute to quash Myanmar hopes of a comeback, with Park Ye-eun and Yeo Min-ji then getting two goals each to consolidate the victory. 

There was a closer result in Group B, taking place in Sydney, with Chinese Taipei narrowly beating Thailand 1-0 at Campbelltown Stadium.

Ting Chi grabbed the solitary goal in that match, scoring in the 19th minute. 

Action in Group A continues when Vietnam take on Myanmar on Thursday (February 6), while China play Thailand and Australia meet Chinese Taipei on Friday (February 7) in Group B. 

Group B has been affected by the outbreak of coronavirus in China, with competition originally supposed to have taken place in Wuhan. 

It was moved to Nanjing, before settling in Sydney.

The Chinese women's team were then kept in quarantine in Brisbane to ensure they did not have the illness, forcing organisers to reschedule matches.  

The top two teams in each group advance to the play-off round in March.
