Discovery Finland and Finnish broadcaster YLE entered into a cooperation agreement for coverage on future Olympic Games.

Discovery currently holds exclusive rights to broadcast the Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with YLE now awarded radio broadcast rights to all three.

As part of a separate agreement with Discovery announced in April 2016, Yle will broadcast the action from Tokyo on free-to-air television with up to five simultaneous feeds, including radio.

Discovery will exclusively broadcast aquatics and basketball.

"The Olympics are one of the most important sports events for Finns," said Panu Pokkinen, YLE director of sports and events.

"It's great that Yle has the opportunity to continue working with Discovery.

"Together we can make sure that the Olympic content is available in the best possible way for Finns to watch freely."

Yle will also provide two simultaneous feeds of Beijing 2022 on its own digital services and television channels, with this increasing to three for Paris 2024.

Discovery is set to retain exclusive rights for Finland's women's and men's ice hockey matches at Beijing 2022, with the exclusive rights for Paris 2024 due to be selected at a later date.

"Discovery also has a broader commitment to bring the Games to more people, on more screens, than ever before in Europe," said Discovery Finland chief executive Leah Hooper.

"Through striking our new partnership with YLE, we are taking another significant step in delivering this promise and ensuring Finnish TV viewers will continue to receive comprehensive coverage for Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024."
