Competition took place at the Bokwang Phoenix Park, the venue for the sport at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

In the men's event, current World Cup leader Fischnaller dominated the competition finishing the qualification phase fastest after the times of competitors two runs were added together.

Fischnaller negotiated his way through the knockout stages to reach the big final which he won after his opponent in that contest, Russian Dmitry Loginov failed to finish.

The men's small final was won by fellow Russian Andrey Sobolev who beat Austria's Alexander Payer by 0.19 seconds, to take third place.

Austria's Benjamin Karl, who was second in the overall World Cup standings heading into this event, was beaten by Fischnaller by 1.56 seconds at the quarter-final stage.

Meanwhile, in the women's competition, the overall parallel World Cup leader heading into Pyeongchang, Germany’s Ramona Theresia Hofmeister topped the standings after the qualification phase of competition ahead of Julie Zogg of Switzerland and Natalia Soboleva of Russia.

Hofmeister could not replicate her qualification result in the knockout stages as she was beaten in the semi-finals when she finished 0.78 seconds behind Italian Nadya Ochner.

Ochner then faced Zogg in the final but was edged out by the Swiss snowboarder in a close contest, with Zogg triumphing by 0.03 seconds.

Hofmeister could not finish on the podium in Pyeongchang either, as she failed to finish in the small final, allowing Jenny Ladina of Switzerland to claim third place.

It was only the second time in this World Cup season that Hofmeister had failed to finish on the podium.
