France’s Alexis Pinturault became the first skier to win the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Combined World Cup title on six occasions after being confirmed as the winner in Hinterstoder.

Pinturault won the opening Alpine Combined event of the season in Bormio, before a second place result in Wengen.

The French skier sealed victory in the classification winning the third and final competition in Hinterstoder.

Pinturault recorded a time of 1min 9.85sec in the super-G to lie second at the halfway mark, with Switzerland’s Mauro Caviezel topping the standings on 1:09.62.

Their positions would switch during the slalom stage of the event.

Pinturault posted the fastest slalom time, as he stormed to the finish in 55.05 seconds.

The effort gave him an overall total of 2:04.90.

Caviezel dropped back to second place, ending 0.99 seconds behind the winner.

The podium places were completed by Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who placed third in 2:06.15.

Pinturault has now won the Alpine Combined title six times in eight years, while he placed second in 2015 and fourth in 2018.

Giant slalom competition will take place tomorrow.
