A new headquarters for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Americas has been unveiled at a special ceremony in Miami. 

Numerous guests were present for a ribbon cutting ceremony and were welcomed by FIBA President Hamane Niang, secretary general Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Americas President Carol Callan and executive director Carlos Alves.

"I am really pleased first of all to visit our new Americas headquarters in Miami," said Niang.

"This region has been so important for international basketball over the years and now we have a excellent location to attend to our daily business as it relates to governing basketball in the zone. 

"I know that all the Federations will be eager to visit and see first hand this impressive new home."

A number of National Federation representatives were in attendance, with the FIBA Americas Zone Board also present.

Former Puerto Rico national team star Carlos Arroyo was a special guest, while FIBA treasurer Ingo Weiss and senior director Markus Studer rounded off the guest list. 

"We are thrilled that the new headquarters is now up and running, and Miami is a world-class city that offers numerous advantages," said Callan.

"As we look at the present and the future, our new location will help us undertake a myriad of tasks related to helping the game of basketball continue to move in the right direction in our region, hand by hand with the National Federations."

The new headquarters is located near to Miami City Hall and has an open space layout. 

FIBA Americas have relocated from San Juan in Puerto Rico.
