With multiple Para-sport events being cancelled or postponed due to the global outbreak of coronavirus, the IPC guide details the impact of the virus on the Paralympic movement.

It also encourages athletes to "continue training and building their excitement".

"First and foremost, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games are going ahead as planned and preparations continue apace," the guide reads.

"The IPC is keeping a close eye on the impact of coronavirus and are in regular dialogue with the World Health Organization (WHO), the IOC and our own Medical Committee on this matter.

"Countermeasures against infectious diseases constitute an important part of Tokyo 2020’s plans to host a safe and secure Games. 

"Tokyo 2020 will continue to collaborate with all relevant organisations which carefully monitor any incidence of infectious diseases and will review any countermeasures that may be necessary with all relevant organisations.

"We have full confidence that the relevant authorities will take all the necessary measures to address the situation. 

"This includes the ongoing containment measures which has led to the cancellation of several events and mass public gatherings.

"Athletes should continue training and building their excitement for the Opening Ceremony in the spectacular Tokyo Olympic Stadium on August 25."

The guide also lists the sporting events which have been impacted by coronavirus, including the Tokyo 2020 wheelchair rugby and boccia test events in Japan. 

Finally, the guide offers advice to athletes to prevent the general transmission of the virus.

This includes the WHO recommendations of washing hands frequently and practicing cough etiquette.

The IPC have previously claimed coronavirus has so far had "minimal impact" on planning for Tokyo 2020, although this was at the beginning of February. 

So far, just under 98,000 people have been infected by coronavirus, with more than 3,300 deaths. 

Japan has 361 confirmed cases, with six dead.
