Alexis Pinturault will be aiming to extend his lead at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup event in the Norwegian resort of Kvitfjell.

The Frenchman moved to the top of the World Cup standings in Hinterstoder last week, pushing Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway into second.

He now sits on 1148 points, with Aamodt Kilde on 1122 and another Norwegian, Henrik Kristoffersen, third on 1041.

Pinturault may struggle to top the podium in Kvitfjell, however, having performed well in Alpine combined and giant slalom contests this season.

Neither of these disciplines are on the schedule for this weekend, with a downhill event due to take place tomorrow and super-G action expected on Sunday (March 8).

Kilde has been in the best form in training, recording the fastest times in both available sessions.

Another home favourite, Kjetil Jansrud, has also impressed.
