In the technical routine, Marta Fiedina and Anastasiya Savchuk impressed the judges with a consistent presentation, getting a total of 90.8721 points.

Backed by the support of the local fans in the Georges Vallerey pool, the French pairing of twin sisters Charlotte and Laura Tremble finished with 85.7933.

A total of 84.5879 was enough to give the American team of Anita Alvarez and Lindi Schroeder the last place on the podium ahead of the Dutch sisters Bregje and Noortje de Brouwer, who recorded 84.0639 to finish fourth out of a total of 22 duets.

“We managed to have the score we anticipated in this final, so that’s quite encouraging,” Charlotte Tremble said afterwards to FINA.org.

“It was important for us to start in a strong way.

“All the finals are ‘connected’, so if the initial dynamics is successful, the upcoming days can also bring good results.”

In the free final Fiedina and Savchuk earned gold with 92.8667 points.

The French duet replicated its silver performance, this time with 87.8667, while the US pair earned bronze in 86.4667.

The first leg of the World Series will proceed tomorrow with five finals; mixed duet technical, solo free, solo technical, mixed duet free and team technical.
