With cooperation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) they will continue to oversee the crisis.

In a statement the IHF said: "The health and safety of the teams and their entourage, officials, delegates, staff and fans are of utmost importance and therefore it is vital to collaborate with all stakeholders and remain in close contact with the relevant authorities in order to be able to react in an appropriate and timely manner."

To date, two courses which were set for Kuwait and China, have been postponed as well as a Global Referee Training Programme in Kuwait. 

The 2020 IHF Women's Youth World Championship has also been re-awarded to Croatia after it was set to be hosted in China in August. 

French handball club Limoges Hand 87 have also had an unnamed player contract the virus who now faces the two-week isolation period. 

The European Handball Federation (EHF) have also set alternative dates for June for the third and fourth rounds of the Women's EHF Euro 2020 Qualifiers, scheduled to take place from March 25 to 29 due to the ongoing spread across of the coronavirus across the continent.

As things stand, the next event, the Women's IHF Tokyo Handball Qualification 2020 is scheduled to take place from March 20 to 22 in Spain, Montenegro and Hungary with the men's event occurring in April.
