The European Sambo Championships have been postponed from May to September due to the coronavirus crisis. 

Competition was scheduled for May 21 to 25 in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, with the tournament now moved to September 17 to 21. 

It is an annual event. 

The European Sambo Federation (ESF) Congress is also set to now be held on September 17.

A number of other ESF events have been postponed, including the European Youth and Junior Sambo Championships. 

Taking place in the Bulgarian town of Panagyurishte, it has been moved from April 9 to 13 to December 10 to 14. 

The Potapov Memorial competition, originally scheduled for April 24 to 28, is now set to be held on October 16 to 19.

It will still be located in the Russian city of Vladivostok.

New dates for the Kharlampiev Memorial Sambo World Cup in Moscow, which was supposed to be contested last week, are yet to be announced. 

Earlier this month, the International Sambo Federation postponed all of its competitions up to April 30. 

There have now been more than 415,000 COVID-19 cases worldwide, with the figures constantly rising. 

More than 18,000 people have died. 

The pandemic has even forced the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
