The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has suspended all of its international events until the end of June and frozen its rankings because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The decisions were reached by the ITTF's Executive Committee following a meeting today where they discussed the impact of coronavirus on the table tennis schedule.

All currently planned ITTF events and activities that involve international travel until June 30 have been suspended.

New dates for the Hana Bank 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships will be announced in the coming week.

The Championships were due to held from June 22 to 28 in South Korea, having previously been scheduled to take place this month.

The ITTF said that their ranking lists will be frozen as of March.

Adjustments to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games qualification pathways will be worked on by the ITTF after the dates of the rearranged Olympic and Paralympic Games have been decided.

The federation added they would be sending a survey  out to all of their athletes for their input, to help inform the Executive Board's decisions in relation to the coronavirus pandemic.

A follow-up meeting of the Executive Committee will be held on April 15 to further evaluate the situation.
