The Italian Floorball Federation (FIUF) has hosted online seminars for referees, taking advantage of the suspension of competitions to go over refereeing procedures in the game.

Held by Alberto Coduto, a member of the International Floorball Federation (IFF) Referee Development Group, and Roland De Conno Pobitzer, head of the Italian Referee Committee and also in the IFF Referee Development Group, the meeting discussed aspects of refereeing not in the rulebook.

The guidelines are to help the officials mediate the match with as little interruption as possible and focused on preparation before the match, communication on field, controlling the game and finding the correct way to move across the field.

Two 90-minute sessions were held between 11 referees to gain a better understanding of the game.

De Conno Pobitzer said: "We managed to organise a course for 11 floorball referees all over Italy by using a conference call platform as a virtual classroom.

"The software gave the teacher the possibility to act like a teacher in a real classroom, by sharing the screen with the course participants to show different situations using interactive whiteboards, videos and rulebooks.

"This was a first pilot session and we plan to hold further sessions in order to reach all Italian referees.

"Furthermore there will be a similar pilot session on floorball tactics for coaches during the upcoming weekend."

Supervising the project and also present were FIUF President Giorgio Rambaldi and FIUF development manager Daniele Coco.
