World Taekwondo Pan America (WTPA) has cancelled its upcoming events due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Pan American Championships and Pan American Open, both due to take place in the Costa Rican city of Heredia in June, have been postponed.

All events either recognised or promoted by World Taekwondo until the end of May have been either postponed or cancelled in response to the pandemic.

Subsequently, the WTPA President's Cup, scheduled for May 21 to 24 in Spokane in the state of Washington, has been cancelled until further notice.

The same fate has befallen the Pan American Grand Slam in Oregon from April 11 to 13.

Taekwondo, like all sports, has been affected by coronavirus, which has now infected more than 810,000 people worldwide and killed more than 41,000.

Following the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games to July, August and September 2021, the World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi are now set to be pushed back from May to the fourth quarter of the year, after the Games have taken place.
