Virtus has expanded its core staff team as part of its commitment to boost the growth of intellectually disabled sports.

Three new members of staff have been appointed in order to assist with the raising of Virtus' profile after their re-brand and the 2019 Global Games.

Virtus was formerly known as International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS) but changed its name at the Closing Ceremony of the 2019 INAS Global Games.

The new members of the team are Emma Foden, Virtus sport and development manager, Mousumi Mazumdar, communications intern and Greg Dunk, marketing and development officer.

Dunk previously worked as the general manager at the 2019 Global Games in Brisbane in Australia.

Virtus President Marc Truffaut welcomed the new team members and expressed his commitment to building on the success of the last year.

"I am delighted to see this commitment come to fruition," said Truffaut.

"Virtus' programme and reach has grown substantially in recent years but we have depended upon a very small staff team.

"With these new roles we will be able to provide more effective services to our member organisations, develop new projects, and reach more athletes with an intellectual impairment in more nations."

Foden will support the sporting communities of Virtus to deliver the event and competition calendar and oversee new development programmes.

Meanwhile Mazumdar will assist with social media work as well as help writing the newsletter and updating the website after supporting Virtus staff at previous events in the past.
