Prior to the announcement, the Commission met with Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee where they agreed to protect athletes financially and allow more to make money in their sport.

There was also an agreement between the two organisations to form more committees representing the athletes within the nation's Sport Federations, emphasising the importance of athletes representation.

Ramadan this year started on April 23 and will last until May 23.
