According to an email seen by Los Angeles Times, the staff member performed "office-related duties" on the 298-acre development in Inglewood.

"First and most importantly the staff member is doing well with minor symptoms, and is at home under self-quarantine," the email said.

Equipment and facilities the staff member used have been disinfected and "further disinfecting will be performed."

The first worker tested positive on the site at the end of March, with a number of steps taken to protect against the spread of coronavirus.

This included social distancing among workers, hand-washing stations and temperature checks. 

Workers were told to stay at home if they felt unwell or displayed symptoms, but otherwise should continue reporting for work.

Stay-at-home orders are in place in Los Angeles, but construction on the site has continued as it is classed as an essential industry. 

The venue was due to open on July 25, with Taylor Swift booked to perform a concert.

Swift cancelled all her tour dates due to the pandemic, however, with Kenny Chesney, an American country music singer, set to play on August 1 instead. 

Two National Football League (NFL) teams - the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers - will play their home games at SoFi Stadium, which is being built on the site of the old Hollywood Park racetrack.

The Rams and Chargers are supposed to move in for the start of the new NFL season, which is scheduled to begin on September 10, but this - like the Chesney concert due to open the $5 billion (£3.8 billion/€4.5 billion) project - may soon come under threat.

Super Bowl LVI is due to be played at the venue next February.

In addition to elements of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies taking place at SoFi Stadium, football and archery is due to be held at the complex during Los Angeles 2028.
