The International Ski Federation (FIS) released guidelines for event organisers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Sport has been suspended during the pandemic, but events are set to be held in the coming months as restrictive measures ease.

Guidelines have been compiled to provide relevant advice to those organising FIS events based on information from the World Health Organisation and International Olympic Committee medical department.

Event organisers should ensure that adequate measures are in place to protect the health of all participants and that athletes can access immediate medical care.

Preventative measures to stop transmission of infection as well as mitigation measures to minimise the risk of infection should also be implemented.

This includes completing a risk assessment prior to the event, and compiling a document for teams and other participants summarising the COVID-19 prevention measures planned.

During the event, hand-washing and hygiene facilities must be available at multiple locations throughout venues.

The venue set-up should be reviewed to minimise the flow of people in all areas, while the number of people in the start and finish zones must also be strictly controlled.

Organisers should also include the responsible health authorities in establishing appropriate measures and stay updated with the latest developments and local regulations.

FIS has set up a information hub for further information, with stakeholders also able to contact the FIS Medical Committee COVID-19 support group.
