It comes on World Refugee Day, based off a new indicator on refugees approved by the United Nations Statistical Commission in March this year.

On August 30 2019, FIAS signed a memorandum of understanding with World Taekwondo and its charity affiliate the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF) to carry out joint projects.

Using youth inclusion in sport, it looked to globally empower refugees and displaced people worldwide by training them in sambo and taekwondo.

The three organisations have continued to commit to close collaboration, sharing information on the subject.

According to the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, there are around 79.5 million people who were displaced as of the end of 2019 - roughly one in every 97 people on the planet.

Of that, there are around 30 to 34 million children, tens of thousands unaccompanied, among those displaced. 

In a statement, FIAS said: "The COVID-19 pandemic and the recent anti-racism protests have shown us how desperately we need to fight for a more inclusive and equal world, a world where no one is left behind.

"It has never been clearer that all of us have a role to play in order to bring about change, everyone can make a difference.

"This is at the heart of the UNHCR's World Refugee Day campaign.

"This year, we aim to remind the world that everyone, including refugees, can contribute to society and every action counts in the effort to create a more just, inclusive and equal world.

"We encourage the sambo sports community to join the digital celebration of the World Refugee Day by making and publishing a simple picture where you make two hands linked together in the shape of a heart, symbolising solidarity and diversity."

World Refugee Day is celebrated every year on June 20.
