Taking tourists and athletes up Mount Faloria, the cableway will get an upgrade by Nidec ASI to lessen its environmental impact.

It will install an electric transmission system as part of its redevelopment.

Mount Faloria will also host the 2021 International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine World Ski Championships, which could be on the verge of moving to 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Nidec ASI, part of the Nidec Group, aims to commit to economic recovery and look towards sustainability in this project.

The cableway covers a difference in altitude of over 900 metres and has three stations since it was built in 1939. 

These are the lower station in Cortina near the bus station at 1,230 metres above sea level, the midway station in Mandres at 1,500m and the station at the summit of Faloria at 2,120m.

Nidec ASI will design, construct and supply architecture for automation and safety features for the three stations and four cable cars.

The cable cars will also be equipped with Wi-Fi while moving into technology similar to railways to enable communication between the stations.

There will also be on-board video surveillance to guarantee passenger safety.

Nidec ASI previously worked on the Moscow cable car, inaugurated during the 2018 World Cup, that connects the Luzhniki Stadium to the viewing point at Moscow State University.
