The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) has entered into a global partnership with healthcare brand Wellspect.

Wellspect, billed by the IWBF as "a leading provider of innovative products for bowel and bladder management", has already been in a partnership with the German Wheelchair Sports Association for 14 years.

The agreement will see Wellspect branding appearing on all of the IWBF’s marketing materials and it will also be evident at IWBF-run events.

There will also be collaborative opportunities to showcase "our joint vision for transforming lives", per the IWBF.

IWBF President Ulf Mehrens hailed the firm as a "great partner" for the governing body.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Wellspect as an IWBF global partner," Mehrens said.

"It’s a privilege to partner with such a renowned company who share the same vision and passion as us to make a difference to society, and we believe they will be a great partner in our mission of developing and growing wheelchair basketball worldwide.

"We are confident the partnership will be successful for both organisations and we look forward to a fruitful cooperation."

Wellspect’s headquarters are in Sweden but it is part of the American-based Dentsply Sirona group.

Many users of its bowel and bladder products will have a spinal cord injury, spina bifida, an enlarged prostate or multiple sclerosis.

It is now one of the global partners listed on the IWBF website, alongside Molten and the International Basketball Federation.
