The International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) has seen its initiative at the Zaatari Refugee Camp recognised as a case study by the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), as part of its sustainability sport portal.

GAISF launched its sustainability sport report in June 2020 with support from the International Olympic Committee.

It looks to help further sport's sustainability goals by providing a free tool with examples of good sustainable governance, allowing anyone to find the information in one place.

In April 2018, FITEQ signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Peace and Sport in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan, where the organisation was running its Live Together programme.

Since then, both organisations have worked together to promote teqball as a tool for social development and equality.

The project was organised around the concept of training personnel to be coaches, giving the sport a long-term legacy in the camp which is home to refugees who have fled the conflict in Syria.

"Sustainability is a core component of every single FITEQ project, especially our social impact programmes," said FITEQ head of diplomatic relations and corporate social responsibility, Gergely Murányi.

"We are therefore very proud that our joint project with Peace and Sport in the Zaatari Refugee Camp is featured on GAISF's sustainability sport portal.

"GAISF is doing an excellent job in raising awareness of the importance of sustainability in all aspects of sport and encouraging organisations to take concrete action to show they can walk the walk, as well as talk the talk."

Two teqball tables were donated to the residents of the camp, which is the largest in the world for Syrian refugees.
