Indonesian climber Rahmad Adi is targeting gold at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou and believes he has what it takes to top the podium at the event in the Chinese city.

Adi made the confident prediction off the back of his victory at the International Federation of Sport Climbing Connected Speed Knockout, a virtual event organised earlier this month to fill the void of sporting competitions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The speed specialist is also an Asian Youth Championships gold and bronze medallist.

"I keep practicing, and I will make the target," the 19-year-old said, according to China's official state news agency Xinhua.

Adi has also set his sights on a medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and hopes to use Hangzhou 2022 as a springboard for further international success.

Sport climbing is one of 40 sports on the programme for the 2022 Asian Games.

More than 10,000 athletes are expected to compete at the Games, scheduled to run from September 10 to 25.
