Eger succeeds Cora Hengst, who has stepped down after seven years in the role.

The 31-year-old joins the DBSJ having worked for the Research Institute for Inclusion through Exercise and Sport and Sportjugend Hessen, a youth sports organisation based in Frankfurt.

During her time with Sportjugend Hessen, Eger was involved in voluntary service and was responsible for the implementation of educational days and educational support.

Eger also obtained a masters degree in Sports Management from the German Sport University Cologne.

In a statement, the DBSJ said Eger "would like to contribute the experience she has gained" to the DBSJ. 

Eger is set to focus on youth events such as the Youth Country Cup, talent days and the Paralympic Youth Camp.

She will also be expected to work with the DBSJ Board and other committees within the organisation.
