The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has renewed Schelde Sports as its global supplier of backstop units until the Paris 2024 Olympics.

As well as next year's postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the Games in the French capital, the new deal will also cover the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Japan, Indonesia and Philippines.

FIBA EuroBasket 2022, scheduled to be held in Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic and Georgia, is another major tournament which will be covered by the partnership.

It continues a relationship between FIBA and Schelde Sports which has existed since 2014.

This saw backstop units provided for the Rio 2016 Olympics and the 2014 and 2019 World Cups.

Schelde Sports has also been the official backstop supplier for FIBA 3x3 basketball competitions since 2013, with the discipline due to make its Olympic debut in Tokyo.

"FIBA places great importance on long-term partnerships and we are pleased to announce a new agreement with Schelde Sports, particularly after the great collaboration we had with them at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019," said FIBA secretary general Andreas Zagklis.

"Schelde Sports is globally renowned for its distribution excellence and we are delighted to continue to provide our players with these state of the art backstop units at numerous FIBA flagship events, as well as the Olympic Games."

ABEO Group, the sports and leisure equipment company which owns Schelde Sports, is based in France so the confirmation of Paris 2024 is seen as particularly important.

"Schelde Sports share with FIBA the same mission of developing and promoting basketball to make it even more popular worldwide," said Olivier Estèves, the chief executive of ABEO Group.

"This is why we are incredibly pleased to continue this successful partnership and feel very proud that our expertise is recognised through our presence at numerous world-class events, involving a growing number of organising countries.

"Furthermore, the French origin of ABEO makes participation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games even more valuable to us."
