Swiss Sliding have appointed two of the country's former bobsleigh pilots to key governance positions.

Fabienne Meyer has become head of sport for all disciplines while Rico Peter will be responsible for bobsleigh.

Thirty-eight-year-old Meyer won the two-woman title at the European Championships in 2014, alongside pusher Tanja Mayer.

She also won continental bronze with Hanne Schenk in 2012 and the world junior title in 2008.

Meyer was previously track coach for Great Britain between 2015 and 2017.

Peter won bronze in the four-man at the 2016 World Championships, with the 36-year-old also finishing fourth at Pyeongchang 2018 to narrowly miss out on an Olympic medal.

He also boasts international coaching experience after working with the South Korean team during the 2018-2019 season.

According to Swiss Sliding President Sepp Kubli, the organisation has the long-term goal of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

"Swiss Sliding is happy and convinced that two of the best Swiss bobsleigh pilots of the recent past can give the current athletes valuable experience," he said.

"In addition, we are strengthening the structures and the athlete path in the longer term with regard to the Olympic Games in 2026.

"Special attention also applies here to the younger athletes as well as the advancement of women."
