Scheduled for November and February, the international windows for the events will follow other FIBA continental qualifiers which will also take place in bubbles.

In a teleconference, the Board discussed the criteria for choosing the hosts of the bubbles for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers too, the top European international competition for men.

These bubbles will consist of the teams of one group - four teams or three teams in some women's groups.

If no host can be found for a group, they will join another existing bubble to prevent travel occurring across the continent for matches.

These rules will also apply to the groups for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers, scheduled to be played during the same window.

"The most important criteria in choosing the hosts will be health and travel guarantees and compliance with FIBA health protocols, including testing and controlled entry into a secure environment in the competition city," read a FIBA statement.

"Preference will be given to candidacies from nations that are scheduled to play two home games in the upcoming windows."

Spectators could be allowed in these bubble tournaments, depending on the host nation's Government restrictions.

Host candidacies for the men's and women's qualifiers will be discussed and confirmed during the next Board meeting on October 8.

Strasbourg in France and Valencia in Spain are scheduled to host the 2021 FIBA Women's EuroBasket, after Paris dropped out of hosting duties in May.
