The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has partnered with sports marketing agency Redtorch to help improve the social-media performance of its members.

Redtorch, based in London, said it would work with ANOC to "implement exciting initiatives that will have a huge impact" on how National Olympic Committees (NOCs) use social media.

The agreement forms part of an effort to enhance the presence of NOCs on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to help NOCs secure investment from sponsors.

It is also designed to "help audience growth and help them demonstrate how they can connect brands with sports fans", according to Redtorch.

"Partnering with ANOC on this exciting project gives us another opportunity to have a positive impact on people and communities through sport," Redtorch chief executive Jonny Murch said.

"Our expert research and consultancy teams will enable ANOC to improve social-media performance across its membership."

Part of Redtorch's work could see the company assist ANOC with discovering which NOCs still do not have accounts on social media.

Murch added it was the "ideal time for a co-operative approach" as the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games next year will be followed by Beijing 2022 within six months.
