Applications have opened to be a Young Sports Maker during Global Sports Week ©GSW

Applications have opened to be one of 35 Young Sports Makers during the next Global Sports Week in February.

The next Global Sports Week, an annual international forum, is scheduled for February 1 to 5.

Events are set to take place in Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Milan, Dakar, Los Angeles and online.

Young Sports Makers will be recruited from around the world and given the opportunity to shape debates and challenge top leaders in person or through virtual events, depending on their location.

Only those living in or near one of the six hub cities will be able to attend the event physically, with the others able to participate through a digital platform.

To compensate for travel restrictions, the package will include a year-round programme of online networking and development activities supported by Global Sports Week partners.

People who will be between the ages of 18 and 25 years old on January 1 will be eligible to apply.

They must be involved in sport as an athlete, coach, organiser, student, volunteer, business professional, entrepreneur or activist.

Applications are open until October 18, with candidates asked to complete an online form and submit a 60-second video statement.

Submissions will be assessed by a group of sports business leaders, who will be looking for sports passion, innovative thinking and persuasive presentation skills alongside ensuring a balanced geographical spread of participants.

Those meeting the criteria will be invited to an online pre-selection workshop.

The final selection of Young Sports Makers will be announced in mid-November.
