Worldwide Olympic sponsor Samsung has released a spoof advert for its "new fragrance", featuring British gymnast Max Whitlock, in a bid to promote a washing machine.

The latest version of Samsung's "ecobubble" washing machine has just been launched, with the perfume bottle an exact replica of the washing machine range.

"Freshly Laundered - Eco Edition" smells like freshly-cleaned sheets, with a bottle being gifted to the first purchasers of the new ecobubble washing machine at Samsung's flagship store in London's King Cross Station.

The campaign featuring Whitlock comes less than a year before he hopes to defend to Olympic titles at the postponed Tokyo 2020.

This advert pays homage to famous fragrance commercials from the past, such as Brad Pitt's Chanel advert and David Gandy's presence being used to promote Dolce and Gabanna.

"This new Samsung machine is an amazing piece of kit - it washes clothes brilliantly but also doubles up as a perfect pommel horse," said Whitlock.

"I had a huge amount of fun creating a range of spoof ads for the new Samsung ecobubble, it's even better knowing that I'm helping to launch a product that is eco-friendly and is making a difference to the environment."

According to Samsung, the smell of freshly-cleaned sheets is the British public's favourite scent, following a survey of 2,000 people.

Whitlock is one of Britain's most prominent gymnasts, having won two Olympic gold medals at Rio 2016 for his floor and pommel horse routines.

He also won all-around bronze in Rio, and two bronze medals four years before at London 2012.

Whitlock is a a three-time world champion on the pommel horse and has also won four Commonwealth Games titles, representing England.

Samsung is a member of The Olympic Partner (TOP) worldwide sponsorship programme, with its deal with the International Olympic Committee running until 2028.
