The Mexican Taekwondo Federation (FMTKD) has created a committee to respond to COVID-19 cases in a bid to support its affiliated members during the pandemic.

FMTKD directors Ángel Martín Corona, President of the Jalisco Taekwondo Union, and Osmin García, President of the Potosina Taekwondo Association, have been chosen to lead the panel.

It will split Mexico into three monitoring areas.

Jorge Uc, President of the Union of Taekwondo Schools of Quintana Roo, has been selected to be in charge of the southern area, while the FMTKD has picked Joao de Jesús Rojas, President of the Poblana Taekwondo Association, to head the central area.

Durango State Taekwondo Association President Jonathan Salazar will manage the northern area.

Should someone test positive for COVID-19, FMTKD said infectious disease doctor Yury Roldan would intervene in a bid to help the infected individual overcome the illness.

FMTKD added the committee would also give aid to the families of teachers who lost their lives to this virus.

"The area managers are going to agree with their state Presidents in their region, and at the same time they are going to monitor the affiliated teachers," FMTKD President Raymundo González said.

"If some of them present a positive situation, they will be given follow-up, treatment, support and solidarity to support them."
