FIS Predictor Challenge will initially focus on just the Alpine World Cup circuit but it could be expanded to also cover cross-country's Tour de Ski and ski jumping's Four Hills Tournament.

Fans can register for free and are challenged to predict the winners of World Cup races and what nationality will be most represented in the top ten.

Another challenge is predicting the time difference between the top two skiers, with points available for the most accurate predictions.

Prizes for the best players will be awarded after World Cup weekends and at the end of the season.

These will include watches from Longines, the data and timing partner of the FIS.

The new Alpine World Cup season is due to begin on Saturday (October 18) and Sunday (October 19) with men's and women's giant slalom races in Sölden in Austria.

French company Feeling Sports worked to develop Predictor Challenge.

"The Predictor Challenge creates engagement and excitement to predict the results, discuss with friends, share your emotions and engage with the fans' national teams, the Alpine skiing overall rankings and so on," said FIS marketing director Jürg Capol.

"It's definitely the correct moment to launch the challenge right before the FIS Audi Alpine World Cup begins in Sölden. 

"We are all looking forward to connecting the fans with athletes, teams and events in this new way."
