The two events are being held as part of the ITTF's #RESTART series, following the suspension of competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ITTF Women's World Cup is scheduled to take place from November 8 to 10 in Chinese city Weihai, with the men's competition following from November 13 to 15.

Dishang Group, which is China's largest export manufacturer of apparel and textiles, says it hopes to help make the events a success while restoring confidence.

"Dishang Group, with its headquarters located in Weihai, is honoured to be title sponsor of the 2020 ITTF World Cups," said Zhu Lihua, the company's chairman. 

"We are very proud to work hand in hand with the ITTF to contribute to the development of table tennis.

"I sincerely wish this event a complete success and hope that the hosting of the World Cups will give courage to everyone around the world to combat against the pandemic and increase confidence in restoring economic growth, and encourage them to pursue a better life."

Both events will be held at the newly opened Weihai Nanhai Olympic Center, which has a capacity of 4,000.

The venue hosted the China National Table Tennis Championships earlier this month.

The Women's and Men's World Cup events had originally been due to take place in Bangkok in Thailand and then Düsseldorf in Germany.

The events were moved to China as the ITTF took a regional approach to the resumption of competitions.

The ITTF say the World Cups traditionally sit amongst the most prestigious annual international table tennis events.

"Dishang Group is a global leader in their field, who have shown excellence in what they do, as well as a great enthusiasm for staging the upcoming ITTF World Cups," said Kimberly Koh, ITTF head of partnerships.

"Therefore, we are very pleased to have them on board for this exciting and highly significant return of international table tennis events."

The World Cups will feature 20 female and 20 male players, including the world champion, qualified players from all completed continental events in Africa, Europe and the Americas and players selected by world ranking from Asia and Oceania.
