With the league starting in Chicago, Kansas City, Phoenix and Los Angeles it is set to be the first of its kind for adults with physical disabilities having been formed with the assistance of the top American football league in the world - the National Football League.

Wheelchair football is the newest team sport offered by Move United, a non-profit organisation in the United States that focuses on Para-sport.

The inaugural season is scheduled to start in the spring of 2021 with a calendar of clinics to introduce athletes across the US to the sport, followed by a 10-week competitive season starting on an unknown date in the autumn of 2021.

For the wheelchair version of the game, the field will be only 60 yards, the game clock will keep running unlike the traditional version of the sport and special teams will not exist.

Special teams in American football include players such as kickers, punters and blockers.

Now the relationship with Xenith will assist teams in keeping costs down.

"We needed a helmet as rugged and resilient as our athletes, and we found that with Xenith," said Glenn Merry, Move United executive director.

"We are excited for Xenith to join our team, driving adaptive athletes to reach their full potential and redefine ability on the football field."

Xenith also provides other apparel and gear for American football.
