The International Floorball Federation has announced the cancellation of next month's Euro Floorball Tour.

Senior women's and women's under-19 events were due to take place in Uppsala in Sweden between November 13 and 15, but have been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A joint decision was taken by the four participating countries – Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Both the senior and under-19 teams were due to contest tournaments at the IFU Arena.

The cancellation is another blow to women's floorball after the 2020 Under-19 World Championships in Uppsala were moved to May of next year after two postponements.

"The players' safety and health always come first," said Mikael Ahlerup, the secretary general of the Swedish Floorball Federation.

"The increased spread of the infection that we are seeing right now, in connection with the fact that there are new restrictions in the participating countries almost every week, makes it difficult to organise events.

"As an organiser, we have a shared responsibility with the nations for the health of all participants and it is not worth the risk right now to carry out the tournament.

"Internationally, we are now looking ahead and I sincerely hope that the situation in the world will look different in six months, so that we put full focus on first and foremost the Under-19 World Floorball Championships in Uppsala from May 5 to 9, 2021.

"It has already been postponed twice, so now we hope for the third time valid.

"Then we want to arrange the best Women's World Floorball Championships in the end of 2021."
