It was far from easy for Roar in match five as they were pushed hard by LA Current over the two days of competition in Budapest in Hungary.

But thanks to impressive showings from Freya Anderson, Alia Atkinson and Guilherme Guido the London team came out on top, joining Cali Condors as the only other team to win both matches.

Roar finished on 499 points as Current came second on 478.5, ahead of Tokyo Frog Kings on 446.5 and DC Trident on 287.

Current remain top the ISL overall standings having competed in one more match than Roar and Condors.

Current’s Tom Shields finished as the match MVP after winning the 100 metres and 200m butterfly, as well as the 50m skins and 4x100m medley and 4x100m freestyle.

His tally of 62.5 points saw him top the standings ahead of Current team mate Béryl Gastaldello on 54.5 and Atkinson of Roar on 40.5.

Gastaldello also completed a quintuple with wins coming in the 50m and 100m butterfly, and 50m and 100m freestyle, before being part of the victorious 4x100m mixed freestyle team.

Atkinson starred with triumphs in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, 4x100m medley and 50m skins.

Kira Toussaint also impressed with a hat-trick of victories, while Anderson and Guido both bagged two wins to steer Roar to victory.

"It was hard for us this morning and I think we have to make sure that we treat day two as a new day," said Roar coach Mel Marshall.

"We had some tired athletes and I think we battled hard.

"We have to go back and see how we can improve the details, but overall, the guys did great today."

Match six will begin tomorrow, featuring defending champions Energy Standard Paris, Aqua Centurions, NY Breakers and Toronto Titans.
