Markus Eisenbichler was the victor in the individual event at the season-opening International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup leg in Wisla.

The German impressed in windy conditions to earn his second career World Cup win. 

He achieved 130.9 points in the first round, before managing 136.7 in the second for a total of 267.6. 

"It was a little bit windy and the landing is always... you know," Eisenbichler said following victory.

"But my second World Cup win, it's unbelievable. 

"I'm so happy."

Compatriot Karl Geiger was second with 258.6, while Daniel Huber of Austria completed with podium with 255.7. 

Geiger finished second in the overall FIS Ski Jumping World Cup standings last season.

Polish star Kamil Stoch, who topped the qualifying event on Friday (November 20), was tied for 27th with former Four Hills Grand Slam winner Kobayashi Ryoyu of Japan. 

Reigning normal hill Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger was 39th on his return to action, with the German missing the whole of last season after an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup is scheduled to continue in Ruka in Finland from Friday to Sunday (November 27 to 29).
