Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) general director Philippe Gueisbuhler has been announced as a speaker at the 2020 Global Esports Executive Summit.

Gueisbuhler was among six speakers to be announced for the event.

K League esports manager Byoungho Kang, Maccabiah Games chief executive Roy Hessing, Korea Anti-Doping Agency education manager Lisa Ghil, Prime Sports International chief executive Yun Yong-chul and Thailand Esports Federation chief executive Samart Benjamin Assarasakorn were also added to the line-up.

Organised by the International Esports Federation (IESF), this year's Global Esports Executive Summit will be held on Sunday and Monday (November 29 and 30) as a hybrid event, with attendance expected in person and online.

It will be the fifth edition of the Summit but the first under this format, which is necessitated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

International travel restrictions mean that those who attend the event in-person in Busan in South Korea must be domestic guests.

Topics on the agenda include the convergence between esports and traditional sport, diversity marketing and esports, esports in the time of COVID-19, and new frontiers in esports technology.

Earlier this year, the IESF announced changes to its Esports World Championship that have seen the competition expand to include online preliminary stages.

The World Championship is scheduled to take place in Eilat in Israel in February, having been rescheduled due to the pandemic.

It will soon be rivalled by the Global Esports Federation (GEF)'s inaugural Global Esports Games, set to take place in December 2021.

The Singapore-based GEF was launched last December and is backed by Chinese technology company Tencent.

The possibility of the Olympic inclusion of esports has been a topic of discussion for a number of years, but the sport's governance remains an issue with both the GEF and IESF - established in 2008 - in operation.

In October, insidethegames exclusively revealed details of a letter which said the International Olympic Committee was not planning to recognise an esports federation.
