The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) has organised a two-day workshop on career transitions, giving elite athletes advice for the future.

The Athlete365 Career+ workshop brought together 60 athletes, with it led by Kenyan volleyball player Mercy Moim and national boxing captain Nick Okoth, according to Kenyan publication Capital FM.

Kenya's women's volleyball team have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as has Okoth.

The workshop targeted athletes at the mid-point of their careers, as well as those making the transition out of sport.

Its theme was "Power Up", and building the foundations for sporting success, education, wise career choices and lifelong excellence.

Balancing sport and education was among the topics discussed.

International Olympic Committee Athlete365 Career+ educators also took part, including Kady Kanoute Tounkara from Mali, Inas Hussein from Egypt and Tony Tarraf from Lebanon.

The programme is designed to help athletes plan for life beyond the world of competitive sport through advice, training and peer-to-peer learning.

The NOCK has organised further, off-curriculum sessions on use of social media, personal finances and medical issues.

Olympians who attended the workshop as guest speakers included women's 5,000 metres world champion Hellen Obiri and Olympic javelin silver medallist Julius Yego, as well as retired rugby sevens star Humphrey Kayange, according to Capital FM.
