Germany's Karl Geiger holds the halfway lead at the International Ski Federation Ski Flying World Championships in Planica in Slovenia.

Geiger is top of the standings with 431.2 points, ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway in second place on 426.6.

The German's title bid was largely aided by his first-round jump, clearing a colossal distance of 241 metres to earn 223.4 points, narrowly ahead of Austria's Michael Hayböck.

Hayböck cleared 245.5m, but only scored 221.1.

A solid second round from Geiger ensured he is in the lead at the individual competition's midpoint, while Granerud moved from fourth up to second with the second-best points total of the second round.

Germany's Markus Eisenbichler, who topped qualification, is in third place after putting in the best effort in the second round, with a total score of 425.7.

Eisenbichler jumped 247m in round two - further than any other competitor.

Hayböck is fourth, having scored 422.9.

Norway's Robert Johansson finished fifth, a long distance off the top four with a total of 411.4.

Reigning champion Daniel-André Tande of Norway could only finish 14th.

Poland's Kamil Stoch, runner-up in 2018, is in eighth place, while Russia's Evgeniy Klimov finished ninth after a disappointing second jump saw him drop from third overall.

Two more rounds are scheduled for tomorrow to crown the individual champion, before a team contest is due on Sunday (December 13).

Norway are the defending team champions.
