Johannes Lochner earned his first two-man bobsleigh win of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup season in Innsbruck.

Lochner set the fastest time in both races in Austria alongside Eric Franke, with the German pair finishing with a total of 1min 42.93sec. 

Compatriot and Olympic champion Francesco Friedrich was in second, achieving 1:43.23 with Margis Thorsten.

In third was Oskars Kibermanis of Latvia, the European champion.

Kibermanis was pushed by Matiss Miknis and finished in 1:43.40. 

Friedrich still leads the way in the World Cup standings with 1,110 points, followed by Lochner on 1,029 and Michael Vogt of Switzerland on 962.

Competition also took place in the IBSF Women's Monobob World Series.

Breeana Walker of Australia was the victor, triumphing in 1:51.08.

Germany's Laura Nolte, the 2016 Youth Olympic champion, was second with a total time of 1:51.52. 

Katrin Beierl of Austria finished with 1:51.64 to take third place. 

It was the first women's monobob event to run alongside an IBSF World Cup this season.

The discipline is being added to the programme for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. 

The IBSF World Cup is scheduled to continue in Innsbruck tomorrow with another two-man bobsleigh event and a two-woman bobsleigh contest.
