Dawid Kubacki recorded a new Garmisch-Partenkirchen hill record as he triumphed at the second leg of the Four Hills Tournament.

The Pole jumped 139 metres and 144m to amass a total of 282.1 points at the contest in Germany.

His latter jump eclipsed the 143.5m effort by Norway's Marius Lindvik last year, which had held the record.

"It was a really great competition for me, really good jumping," Kubacki said.

"I was only one point behind the leader after the first round - it was also a really great jump, maybe a bit different wind conditions.

"The second jump felt really great in the air, maybe a bit better wind conditions, good landing.

"Hill record, that's really amazing."

Kubacki was joined on the podium by Halvor Egner Granerud.

The Norwegian had led after the opening round with a jump of 137m, but his second jump of 136m only gave him a total of 274.9 points.

Piotr Żyła of Poland finished third on 260.4 following jumps of 129.5m and 137.0.

Granerud now leads the Four Hills Tournament at the halfway stage with 555.0 points.

Germany's Karl Geiger was pushed down to second on 551.0, followed by Kamil Stoch of Poland on 548.3.

Granerud also maintained his lead at the top of the Ski Jumping World Cup standings with 730 points, with Germany's Markus Eisenbichler on 544 and Kubacki on 321.

The third leg of the Four Hills Tournament is scheduled for Sunday (January 3) in Innsbruck in Austria.
