The Mexican Taekwondo Federation (FMTKD) has held its annual Congress virtually, as officials and state associations reviewed their activities in 2020 and plans for this year.

FMTKD President Raymundo González led the Congress.

González outlined the activities of the national governing body prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as functions it has been able to fulfil in recent months despite taekwondo schools being closed and most in-person events suspended for health reasons.

Plans for 2021 were then shared, including the cost of membership for the year - now MXN250 (£9.27/$12.59/€10.26).

COVID-19 protocols for those events that can take place were also outlined.

In October, the FMTKD formed a group to support its affiliated members during the pandemic, both financially and medically.

A presentation also took place for the a planned national selection competition in February, which will define the team to compete in the qualifier for the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games.

It is hoped that a national black-belt test can also be conducted in March.

Before signing off with well wishes for 2021, González announced the winners of virtual awards recognising Presidents of the state associations which carried out the best administrative work in 2020.
