Jamaica's Carrie Russell denied American Nicole Vogt a hat-trick of Women's Monobob World Series victories by winning the third event of the weekend in Park City.

Russell, a former sprinter who won a gold medal as part of the Jamaican 4x100 metres relay team at the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow, clocked 1min 49.08sec to edge out Vogt.

The United States racer had won the first two competitions in Park City but was forced to settle for second as she ended her two runs in a combined 1:49.27.

Brazilian Marina Silva Tuono claimed her second straight third-place result, 0.75sec adrift of the victorious Jamaican - who became one of the first women to represent the country at the Winter Olympic Games when she competed at Pyeongchang 2018.

Russell had finished behind Vogt yesterday but was able to turn the tables in the last of the three races at the American venue.

The Women's Monobob World Series is due to continue with a competition in Königssee in Germany on Saturday (January 23).

Women's monobob is set to make its debut on the Winter Olympic Games programme at Beijing 2022.
