The 13-time Paralympic champion, who is a double amputee, said she had parked her car in a handicap space.

In a video on TikTok, she said had been told by a woman she should not park in the spot.

The American swimmer added she displayed her handicap pass to the woman, who then drove off.

"This woman just has the nerve to look me up and down, disgusted that I parked in a handicap spot," said Long, who had her legs amputated at 18 months old due to the birth defect fibular hemimelia.

"I don’t have legs.

"So that’s what I told her which I don’t even need to tell her but she just kind of rolled down her window and proceeded to be like, ‘you shouldn’t park there’.

"This happens a lot, I was never bullied as a kid and I didn’t know that I was going to be bullied by adults because I park in handicap."

Long added: "I get it, I’m young, I’m athletic and I’m also missing legs.

"I know I make it look easy but it’s still really hard.

"My legs are heavy, they hurt me, I’m in pain.

"So to all the handicap police out there, just be kind, you don’t need to know why someone’s parked in handicap."

Long has competed at four Paralympic Games during her career, including winning three gold medals at Athens 2004 when aged 12.

She earned four gold medals at Beijing 2008 before securing five at London 2012.

Long’s 13^th Paralympic title was achieved at Rio 2016.

Her career has also included winning 35 World Championship gold medals across long and short course events.
